William's last name was Sawyer, it was changed to Dozier on March 12, 1878 to permit him to inherit from James Tully Dozier as if he had been his heir by blood.

MARION - Willie J. Dozier, 65, farmer of the Gapway section of the county, died at his home there this afternoon at 6 o'clock. Mr. Dozier had been ill for two weeks.

He is survived by his wife; one son, W. Tate Dozier of Raleigh, NC; four daughters, Mrs. Monroe Floyd, Mrs. LeGrand Shelley, Mrs. Utley Collins and Miss Marjorie Dozier, all of Mullins; and one brother, L. B. Dozier of Rains.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Reedy Creek church eight miles south of Marion. The Rev. E. P. Keene will be in charge.
