Journalist and mystery writer. He wrote for the Baltimore Sun and the U.S. Historical Branch. In 1939, upon his retirement from journalism he turned to writing mystery novels. His works include, "Nightmare In Manhattan," "Night Watch," "Dark Window," "Dangerous Passenger," "The Action Of The Tiger" and "The Eye Of The Needle." In 1955, "Nightmare In Manhattan" was turned into a film, "Union Station" starring William Holden and in 1961, "The Eye Of The Needle" won the Inner Sanctum Mystery Contest.
