Dorothy Rose Scronce, 85, of Stafford County, went to her heavenly home Sunday, May 01, 2011 at her family's home.

Mrs. Scronce was born on June 1, 1925 to the late Audie and Leola Rose Turner in Maiden, NC. She married James Evan Scronce on May 16, 1946. They then moved to Stafford in 1955 and raised their family. Dorothy was devoted to her family and it gave her much joy to care for them as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Dorothy had been a member of Regester Chapel United Methodist Church since 1960. She worked in the Stafford County Public Schools Nutrition Department from 1965 until 1997, where most of her years were spent at Anne E. Moncure Elementary School as the head baker.

Survivors include her children, Teresa Russell and her husband, Jerry, of Locust Grove, Sherry Revis and her husband, Jim, Patti Heid and her husband, Dave, all of Stafford, and James E. Scronce, Jr. and his wife, Debbe, of Vale, NC; her grandchildren, Chris Russell and his wife, Jeannie, of Spotsylvania County, David Russell, of Rhoadesville, Eric Russell and his wife, Jane, of Woodford, Jason Revis, of Stafford, Jennifer Revis Cheek and her husband, Chris, of Stafford, Julie Thompson Newberry and her husband, Jack, of Spotsylvania, Megan Heid Harris and her husband, Chad, of Stafford and Jacob Heid, also of Stafford; her great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jordan, Teresa and Gage Russell, Jamie Thompson, Hillary Ellington, Bethany and Brooke Cheek, Caleb, Evan and Madison Newberry, Anthony and Tessa Harris, and Zeb, Zac and Elizabeth Peeler; her brothers, Jerry Turner and his wife, Dot, of Conover, NC and Jimmy Turner and his wife, Barbara, of Myrtle Beach, SC; and her sister, Priscilla Drum and her husband, Cyril, of Maiden, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. A private interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 2217 Princess Anne St. Ste. 106-1F, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

The family acknowledges with heart-felt thanks the office of Dr. Donna Gamache, who cared for mother for many years and also to Mary Washington Home Health and Hospice for their caring and supportive services.

Dedicated to Dorothy Rose Scronce. Squatty, you were a good grandmother. She always loved you. We all love you Squatty. You were nice to us. We will miss you, but we will see you in heaven. We will love you forever. From the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
