John Aspegren, Dies; Pioneer Lumber Dealer
Rites Wednesday
John Albert Aspegren, 72, 706 North Twenty-fifth street, Nebraska lumberman for 50 years, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Methodist church, Rev. Samuel Beechner officiating. East Lincoln lodge No. 210, A.F. & A.M., will be in charge of services at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be:
Anthony Meseraull, Gerald Desmond, Glenn Wilson, Hilding Strand, Herbert Dahlberg, Richard O. Johnson
Born in Osco, Ill., on Sept. 10, 1874, Mr. Aspegren was brought by his family to Clay county, Neb., in 1878, where he received his early education in the district schools. He attended Bryant Normal school in Stromsburg and was graduated from Lincoln Normal university in 1895.
Associated With Strand.
In 1897, Mr. Aspegren entered the lumber and hardware business at Saronville, in which he was later associated with Oscar Strand. In the following years they purchased interests in several yards over the state.
From 1903 to 1908, he was personally engaged in the lumber business at Oxford and Havelock. In 1908 he moved to Lincoln and since then had been active in the lumber and coal business here as well as in operation of yards at Adams, Doniphan and Saronville.
Mr. Aspegren was a member of St. Paul Methodist church. East Lincoln lodge No. 210, A.M. & A.M., Scottish Rite, and Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Lettie; a daughter, Lillian, and son, Hugo, of Lincoln; a grandson, John; and a brother, Edmund, of Saronville. Another son, Sanford, preceded him in death.
