William J. Blessing, 87, passed away May 1, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. in the Berkshire Center where he was a guest since February 2010. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Elsie (Hirneisen) Blessing. He was the husband of Catherine C. (Conner) Blessing, who passed away July 29, 1997.

Mr. Blessing was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School and also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Park Jensen as a Truck Driver and Warehouseman for 45 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in West Lawn.

Survivors include two sons, Randy W. Blessing of Oklahoma, and Tracy W. Blessing of Reading; and a daughter, Kathy L. Mann wife of John J. Wawrzyniak, Jr. of Exeter Twp.
There are six grandchildren: Drew Blessing, Tory Blessing, Ryan Mann, Amber Ressler, Shannon Speicher and Joshua Blessing; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred R. Blessing.

Services will be Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Avenue, Shillington; Rev. Lewis Bollinger officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Bean Funeral Homes, Shillington is in charge of arrangements.
