GILLEY PILOT MOUNTAIN - Lorraine "Lo" Gilley Mrs. Lorraine "Lo" Gilley, 85, went home with her beloved Savior to be with her beloved Earlie in their heavenly home. She was born in Mt. Airy, NC to Andrew and Jennie Griffith Beasley. She was a graduate of Mt. Airy High School. In 1943 she met the love of her life, Earlie G. Gilley, Sr. They were married in 1946. She was employed in the family business as an office manager. She was a member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church for 62 years and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She served in many positions, taught Sunday school and was the church clerk for 31 years; as well a member of the Women Missionary Union. Lorraine loved her church and was a faithful prayer warrior. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earlie G. Gilley, Sr.. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Keith Jessup of Pilot Mountain; one son and daughter-in-law, Earlie Jr. and Tammy Gilley of Pilot Mountain; four grandchildren, Bobby Jessup of Pilot Mountain, Andy Jessup and Amy of Tobaccoville, Elizabeth and Andrew Hawks of Pilot Mountain and Earlie III and Ashley Gilley of Pilot Mountain; three great-grandchildren, Meredith Jessup, Alexandria Jessup and Earlie "Gaston" Gilley IV and one on the way, Kalie Ellen Hawks. She is survived by special cousins, Andy Griffith, Hazel McCraw, Arnold Griffith and Sara Throckmorton. The family was blessed to have special care givers which enabled the family to care for Lorraine at her home. Kay Cook who had been her loyal friend and care giver since Earlie had passed. The others who we would like to show our thankfulness: Amy Lawson, Lindley Warf, Robin Bowman, Shirley Moorefield and Haley Bowman. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Jessup Grove Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Doug Brinkley, Paul McCraw, and the Rev. D. C. Collins. After the committal the family will receive friends and family. Special thanks to staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for their wonderful care.
