Hiram was a private of Captain J. Douglas Moler's Company E, 184th Regiment of Ohio Infantry Volunteers. He enrolled on February 8, 1865 and discharged on September 20, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee by reason of being mustered out. Hiram was born in Windsor, Ohio (county unknown--I guessed above). He is 5 feet 7 1/2 inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair and by occupation a farmer. He died at the home of his daughter Mrs. W.H.(Lue)Banke, 3 miles SE of Altona on Wednesday October 13, 1911 at 4 o'clock, aged 73 years. Funeral services were held from the home of his daughter on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial in Cloud Cemetery. Note: on his discharge papers it says he was 35 years old in 1865...if that is true he would have been 81 years old when he died! So he could have been born in 1830 or 1838 or somewhere in between. The Cloud Cemetery is 3 miles NW of Ballard, MO in Bates County and is surrounded by a grove of trees in the middle of a corn field now. Hiram Davis would have been my Great-Great Grandfather on my father's mother's side.
