Lois "Jack" Bankston, 79, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

Jack retired from the United States Navy serving from 1948 until 1968. He was a loving husband and father. One of his favorite pastimes was working at the Diamond Ave. Flea Market on the weekends. During his free time Jack liked to tinker with small engines. He loved fishing and playing clabber with friends. With a kind and generous spirit, Jack would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you were in need.

Jack is survived by: Sons, Curt Bankston and his wife, Megan of Evansville, IN, Jeffrey Bankston and his wife, Jamie of Las Cruses, NM, Sisters-in-law, Nancy Dupont and her husband, Paul of Evansville, IN, Dee Blackwell and her husband, Vic of Evansville, IN, Shirley Haley of Everman, TX, Arlis Dimmett and her husband, Al of Fenton, MO, Brother-in-law, Arvin Remington Jr. and his wife, LoEva of Crosby, TX, Grandchildren, Ethan, Alexis and Elizabeth Bankston

Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Margaret (Remington) Bankston and his parents, Nora and Walter Bankston.

Funeral services will be held 10AM Wed, Jan 20, 2010 at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Ave. with Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Gravesite Details

Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery said the grave site is setup for a large bronze military marker and next of kin needs to call Browning Funeral Home and ask them to put in a request for the military marker. Should be no cost to family.
