Henry F. Barbour III, 72, passed on Tues, April 12, 2011 to be with our Lord and Heavenly Father. One of five siblings, he always carried with him the drive for success and the insight to strive for a best. He recently retired after 36 years of public service. His engaging personality and positive spirit enriched lives immensely. Henry will be sorely missed, and there can be no doubt that he departs this era with a rich and enduring legacy of commitment and success. The friendship and steadfast love and support of Lois, his wife of 48, years, as well as his network of colleagues and friends, have carried him through good days and challenging days. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Lois Barbour, three adoring daughters, Calethea, Carla and Carmen, beloved granddaughter Caleigh, brothers, Harold Barbour and Herbert (Cassandra) Barbour, sisters, Betty Jean Jackson and Stella Heriveaux, sisters-in-law Flossie (Robbie) Bell, Mary (Lorenzo) Kirk, and Brenda Hagan, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A celebration of Henry's life will be held at Berean SDA Church, 291 Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, on Sunday, April 17 at 10:30 am, officiated by Dr. Carlton Byrd. Interment Lincoln Cemetery. A wake will be held today from 7-8 pm at Alfonso Dawson Mortuary, 3000 M.L.K. Jr Dr, SW.
