U.S. Congressman. He attended Adelphi Academy and became successful in the insurance business. In 1897, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-fifth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Francis H. Wilson and reelected to the Fifty-sixth Congress, serving until 1901. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his previous business venues until his death at age 81.
