Adam was born near Cullom. He was the eldest of four children born to John A. and Mary (Drilling) Ellinger. His siblings were Clarence, Earl and Fern.

Adam Ellinger, 63, Dies of Gunshot Wounds

Adam W. Ellinger, 63, rural Cullom, died of self-inflicted gunshot wound in the emergency room of St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, after being transferred from St. James Hospital, Pontiac, according to Herbert Buzbee, deputy coroner for Peoria County.

Buzbee said Ellinger, who had been despondent over ill health, was found at home about 6:30 a.m. by his brother Clarence.

An inquest will be scheduled, Buzbee said.

Mr. Ellinger's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Charlotte United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Durward Harris officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at the Stewart Funeral Home and one hour before the funeral at the church.

He was born near Cullom, Dec. 21, 1910, a son of John W. and Mary Drilling Ellinger.

Surviving are his brother, with whom he made h is home, a sister, Mrs. Fern Hummel, Pontiac; two nieces, one nephew, one grandniece, and one grandnephew.

He was preceded in death by a brother. He had lived on a farm near Cullom throughout his life.
