Ruby E. Aardahl, 93, of Devils Lake, died on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND

Funeral Services for Ruby will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Harold Ovre officiating.

Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Ruby will be her grandchildren, Sanford Pyron, Roger and Michelle Shield, Alan and RaNae Mathias, Kevin and Ursula Blake, Brent and Laurie Kappes, Victor and Lana Alerigo, Karl and Kimberly Blake, Greg Aardahl, Christopher and Anna Aardahl, Todd and Suzie Aardahl, Steve and Alison Repnow, and Alex Aardahl. Reading the scriptures will be Bradley Kappes. Music will be provided by Dennis and Jean Aardahl and Dana and Jana Loken, vocalists and Lynda Pearson, organist. Memorials may be directed to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Building Fund and Mercy Hospice.

Ruby E. Hanson was born April 13, 1914 at Lisbon, ND, the daughter of Severin and Elida (Gunderson) Hanson. She was reared and educated there.

Ruby was united in marriage to Norman S. Aardahl on December 24, 1935 in Lisbon. They established their home in Lisbon from 1935 to 1946. They then purchased a farm at Petersburg, ND where they farmed until 1951. They then moved to Devils Lake where they both worked at the North Dakota School for the Deaf. Ruby worked as the head cook. They both retired in 1977. She also worked at the Nokota Hatchery and the Devils Lake Dairy Queen. Norman died on October 1, 1990.

Ruby was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, WELCA, Prisca Circle, and the Rebekkah Lodge. She was very active in both the church and the lodge. Ruby loved to cook, bake, and crochet. She was well known for her doughnuts, lefse, and "fridge" towels. Some people referred to her as the "doughnut lady".

Ruby loved and enjoyed her family. She was always interested in their activities, and very proud of their accomplishments. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Ruby is survived by daughters: Eileen Pyron and her husband, William of Hansen, Idaho Stella Blake and her husband, Lavern of Starkweather, ND, son: Lyle Aardahl and his wife, Jean of Sacramento, California Daughter-In-Law: Janet Aardahl of Stanley, ND, twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; son, Marvin; sisters, Mildred Sandall, Ethel Lamson, and Stella Hanson; brothers, Alvin Hanson, Glen Hanson, and infant twin brothers.
