Mrs. Alice Kern, 47, wife of an officer at McNeil Island Penitentiary, died Weds, at her home in the officers' quarters. She was born in Tarkio, MO and was a member of the McNeil Island Community Church. Survivors include her husband Ward; one son, Ward Jr.; her father George Bowman of Hackensack, MN; three brothers, Edward Bowman of Los Angeles, CA; Vern Bowman of Waban, Mass.; and Lynn Bowman of Minneapolis, MN. Services will be held at the Lakewood Mortuary at 1:15 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Charles Paine officiating. Burial will be at New Tacoma Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Luster Gollaher, Carter Riegel, Frank Young, Robert Young, Clarence Eckhart and Claude Adamson.
