PEQUOT LAKES — Dorothy Catherine Folkerts, 89, of Pequot Lakes, Minn., died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Senior Class Care Assisted Living.
Dorothy was born July 24, 1921, in Willmar, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Etta (Woltjer) Moje. After graduating from high school, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lester Folkerts on May 26, 1943, in Danube, Minn. For 26 years she worked for the State of Minnesota in clerical positions. Dorothy was active in her church; she participated in the choir and ladies guild. She was also a member of the Pequot Lakes American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy loved to be outside and to go camping. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, and knitting.
She will be missed by her husband of 67 years, Lester; her children, James (Carole) Folkerts, of Ideal Corners, and Phyllis Palmer, of Oakdale; her grandchildren, Jacqueline (Brad) Rasmussen, of Oakdale, Michael (Lynn) Folkerts, of Oakdale, Amy (Ben) Hofschulte, of Oakdale, and April Nystrom, of Massachusetts; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Adeline Schoer, of Blomkest and Betty Orud, of St. Paul Park. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Edna; and brother, Edwin.
