Severin Binder was born in Bisingen, Hobenzollern, Germany; married Fredrica Donnaker January 20, 1874. To this union were born eight children; all except the youngest were born in Germany. One child died in infancy. His youngest daughter, Lena, was born in Ellsworth, Kansas USA.
The family came to this country in the fall of 1885 and settled in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. After one year the moved to Ellsworth County, Kansas. In the fall of 1906, Severin retired from farming and moved to Ellsworth. Severin was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and his life was an exemplifcation of his faith.
