Mrs. Melene Olsen departed this life May 27th at half past six o'clock by Elder Chas. H. Ruff, were held at the home in Keyesville township the following Monday afternoon at two o'clock, and the remains, followed by a large company of friends and relatives, were taken to the little cemetery near the brick school house for burial.

Mrs. Olsen was born February 23rd, 1875, in Shutesnes, Norway. She came to America September 5th, 1898, and was married to Samuel Olsen on the 23rd day of the same month. She was taken sick the following February, and has been an invalid ever since, though confined to her bed but part of the time until the last three weeks. She leaves two brothers in Dakota, a brother, sister, and mother in Norway, and a husband here to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Lutheran church and upon her deathbed expressed a hope of salvation. The sorrowing friends have the sympathy of the entire community in this, their hour of affliction.
