Henry P Smith fathered nine children in Iowa. Five boys and one girl survived to adulthood. Nuby was the only one that remained in Jefferson Co. When he was 13 his mother had died and his father had left town so he was taken in by Christoper Loving's family.
March 14,1887 he married Anna Belle Giberson
He farmed the family land in Cedar township, 80 acres Section 26, until he died. His children kept the land in the family until 1973 when Walter Nuby died without issue. His widow put the property up for auction. It was purchased by Verda Baird and her husband.
One of his grandchildren is a major land owner in Round Prairie township to this day. The family owns 160 acres south east corner Section 31 Round Paririe.
