Ila Jean Stroud of Lonoke, formerly of North Little Rock, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2011.

She was born August 13, 1921, in Scotland, Arkansas. She was retired from the North Little Rock School System, where she had been an elementary school teacher.

She graduated from the Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA), and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

She served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. Jethro M. Stroud and Mrs. Gertrude Harris, and her sisters Mrs. Avaleen Hillis and Mrs. Ula Dean Macheau.

She is survived by her niece and nephew, Sherry Jean Boren of Morrilton and Dwight Hillis of Lonoke. The family would like to thank Golden Years Manor for eleven years of loving care.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Liberty Springs Cemetery at Scotland, with Mr. Dwight Hillis officiating.

Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
