One of Talgarth's oldest tradesmen passed away last week in the person of Mr John Games senior, whose death occurred on Thursday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. E Pugh, Creigiau. Deceased, who had exceeded his allotted span of three score years and ten, was widely known and highly respected in the town and neighbourhood, having for upward of half-a-century carried on a successful business as carpenter and builder. During this long period he took a keen interest in local affairs, and, until late years, was a well known figure in public life of the town. He was essentially a ‘link with the past," being well informed and minutely acquainted with the history of Talgarth both as regards, persons and places for the last sixty years.
The funeral took place on Saturday at St. Gwendoline's churchyard. A short service was conducted at the house by the Rev. Rees Davies, while the vicar, Rev. D. L. Davies, officiated at the graveside. A large attendance of the general public testified to the esteem in which deceased was held. The coffin, which was of polished oak with brass fittings, was supplied by Mr Willie Games, carpenter (grandson), and bore the following inscription:

The bearers were members of the Prince of Wales Benefit Society, of which, prior to its being dissolved, deceased was on of the oldest members.
