Descendant of a noble family, who came from Bohemia. Franz von Karlovic Kluki Klugenau (1791-1851), the first one to join the Russian military, rose to the rank of lieutenant general, fought in the Caucasus. Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Kluki von Klugenau - last known officer of this family, pushed to emigrate to France. He served in the Life Guards regiment Connes, held the rank of colonel. Since January 1919, together with other Cavalry Guards officers joined the Consolidated-Guards Regiment of the Volunteer Army. During the summer and autumn of 1920 the squadron had lost much of its stock, and surviving platoon was formed, which General Wrangel transformed into his personal escort.
