Grace P. Crawford, age 88, of 1238 S. 19th Street, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, February 7, 2003, at Manitowoc Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Wojciechowski, O.F.M. with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Grace was born November 4, 1914 in Manitowoc, WI, daughter of the late Alex and Pauline Korlesky Mrotek. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1933. On February 14, 1942 she married Garfield (Red) Crawford at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1994. After her mother's death and before her marriage to Red, Grace served as daughter, sister and mother to her family "On The Hill" on South 23rd Street. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Rosary & Altar Society. She happily washed the dishes at funeral luncheons for many years. Until Grace was well into her 70's, she could be recognized riding her bicycle all over the southside of Manitowoc, from store to rummage sale and home again. Grace was an avid bowler, canasta and scrabble player. Survivors include three daughters & two sons-in-law: Sandra and Erling Peck, Manitowoc, Candace Handl, Manitowoc and Dianne and Roger Trepasso, Manitowoc; one son & daughter-in-law: Kevin and Karen Crawford, Manitowoc; eleven grandchildren: Kerry Peck, Kristin Peck, Kelly Handl and fiancee Ed Jape, Casey Handl, Heidi and Amanda Handl, Beth (Jeremy) Stryhn, Kimberly Trepasso and fiance‚ Rick Leitner, Shane Crawford and fiance‚ Jane Faivre, Adam and Abby Crawford; four great grandchildren: Leah, Madeline, Alex and Zachary Handl; one brother and three sisters-in-law: Gene and Lenore Mrotek, Maxine Mrotek and Jane Schmidt; one godchild: Bonnie Vy Vyan; a very special lifetime friend: Ginny (Brixius) Rosinsky, all of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Danny Handl; six brothers and three sisters. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday February 14, 2003at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Rev. Tom Wojciechowski, OFM. The family would like to extend its deep appreciation to the staff of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Holy Family Home Care and the Manitowoc County Health Care Center.
