Della's family moved from Pocola, Indian Territory in 1900 to Spiro, Indian Territory (later LeFlore Co., Oklahoma).

As a young lady, she worked as a clerk in Dunklin's Bros. Mercantile store in Spiro.

In later life, before Nursing Homes, she was a caretaker for her older sister, Mary Amanda Hickman Booth. Mary lived to age 93, died in 1956, and Della died in 1960, at age 80. She never married.
