After Susan Ona Plaxico Hickman died, Sam Hickman married Kate Harlan, and their children were: (1) Hugh, mar. Nola Munn and Mary Wade. (2) Beulah F, born 1903, never mar. and died Jun 11, 1927. (3) Medorah, born Aug 13, 1907, died Nov 19, 1942, mar. Robert Jaggars, buried Spiro City Cemetery.
After statehood, Sam Hickman was elected County Commissioner of LeFlore County. He died at age 75 while visiting relatives in Muskogee, Oklahoma when he accidently stepped on to the street and was struck by an automobile.
