She was born April 6, 1918, at Belmont, Kansas, the daughter of John H. and Olive Hargett Mapel. A lifetime resident of the Belmont community, she was a homemaker and school teacher.
She was a member of the Norwich Church of Christ.
On June 21, 1941, she married Clay "Bus" Young at the Maple family home near Belmont. Other survivors include: 2 sons, Ron, Little Rock, AR, and David, Kingman; daughters and their husbands, Jane and Mark Seim, Pomona, NJ, Elaine and Larry McCullough, Lawrence, and Marty and Charlie McCann, Harper; sister, Eunice Reiboldt, Neosho, MO; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, John and Jim Maple; and sisters, Rachel and Lois Maple, Ruth Jones and Betty Hawkins.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with Mark Seim presiding. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Hunt Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the Silver Maple Camp and the Nature Conservancy, both in care of the funeral home
