Martha Rosella Stevens was born on Mar 4, 1855 and came with her parents to Jackson County, IA. She was married in this County on Dec 3, 1873 to Joseph James Morgan, who was born in Illinois on Dec 12, 1850. Later they moved to Delaware Co., IA and in 1884 came to Gosper Co., NE locating on a farm near Elwood NE. Mrs. Morgan told her children their forefathers came from England. She also told them there were several generations of Stevens' in Vermont before the time of her grandfather, Roger Stevens, who was a carpenter and farmer. Mrs. Morgan died in 1910 and Mr. Morgan in 1926. Both are buried in the Elwood cemetery.
