Funeral services tor Ole J. Mayer who passed away at his home on Thursday evening, Oct. 27 was held at the First Lutheran church here Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 2. Erni Holm, student in charge officiated. A large gathering of relatives and neighbors filled the church where they came to pay their last respects to a friend. The flower tributes were many and beautiful. A gift of money was given to the mission in his memory by the Lutheran Ladies Aid, also by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Osterberg, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Osterberg, Mr. and Mrs. John Ogren, Mrs. Esther Skaugseth, Mrs. E. W. Christie and Emil Dahlgren. Music was furnished by a male octet, a ladies' quartet, and a solo by Mrs. George Broden. The pallbearers were Lars Beckstrom, Olaf Helberg, Herbert Wetterling, A. T. Grimsted, P. G. Reed and L. Smedstad. Interment was made in the Kensington cemetery.

Ole Jens Mayer was born in Ysstads Lans, Skaane, Sweden, Oct. 2, 1855, and died at Kensington, Oct. 27, 1932 at the age of 77 years and 25 days. He came to America in 1873 and was one of the pioneers of our land. He was united in marriage to Mamie Osterberg in 1893 to which union six children were born. They are Mrs. Mohler (Frances) of Wildrose, N. D.; Martin of San Pedro, Calif.; Raymond of Los Angeles; Eddie of St. Cloud; Wm., deceased; and Johnnie of Kensington. His wife passed away June 17, 1905. He was again married to Ellen Nelson in 1909 to which union three children were born: namely, Eleanor of San Pedro, Calif.; Basil of Battle Lake; and Sextus at home. His second wife passed away in March, 1922. Besides his children he has eight grandchildren, three brothers and one sister to mourn his departure. The community joins in heartfelt sympathy for the sorrowing children.
