Mr. Simms was a native of Kentucky and a long time resident of both Florida and Ohio. He owned the Mountaineer Buffet Restaurant in Maggie Valley, NC for several years along with his wife Hazel as well as being a plasterer by trade.
Mr. Simms was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Beverly Susan Nunn Ballard and son Russell Edward Simms, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Hazel as well as stepson in law Wayne Ballard and stepgrandsons Terry, James and David Ballard and 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
