Services for R. L. "Pop/Jonsie" Jones, 75, 312 N. Main St., are pending at Denton Funeral Home. Mr. Jones died Sunday at Guadalupe Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Ada, Okla., where he was raised and educated. He attended technical school in Chicago and later returned to Ada where he live until 1942. He lived for a time in Kingsport, Tenn. and came to Carlsbad in 1954. He worked as a pressman for the Carlsbad Current-Argus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include on son, Robert L. Jone II, Florida; one stepson, Terrell McBee, Carlsbad; three step-daughters, Barbara Kirkes and Patricia Irish, both of Carlsbad, Mildred Smith, Aspermont, Texas; one sister, Ruby Moore, Carlsbad; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
