Married 25 December 1922 to Oliva DeWeese Schenk in Rushville, Schyler County, Illnois; most of his childhood spent in Centerville IA; removed with family to Peoria IL by 1900; enlisted in USNRF as a Landsman for Electrician 19 Nov 1917, released to inactive duty 29 Dec 1918, and Honorably Discharged as Storekeeper 3rd class 30 Sep 1921 (in WW I), salesman in Peoria 1922, to Table Grove IL in 1925, bought a Ford car agency there, he lost the agency in the depression of the 1930's, and converted the showroom into a hardware store and garage, warehouseman during WW II and later civilian property and disposal clerk for the U.S. army at Camp Ellis near Table Grove until 1950, active in politics as a Republican, member of the Table Grove American Legion Post and a Mason, died of a heart attack while seated at the supper table.
