Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Adler announce the marriage of their daughter, Mildred to Mr. Kennedy D. Davin, Son of Mrs. Mary Davin. Dr. I. M. Hargett read the service Saturday, November 18, in the presence of the immediate families. The bride wore an afternoon gown of blue crepe with hat to match and a corsage of Johanna Hill roses. Miss Catherine Davin, sister of the bridegroom, was the only attendant. She wore a gown of dark blue crepe, and a corsage of Ophelia roses and forget-me-nots. Mr. Albert Adler, brother of the bride, acted as best man for Mr. Davin. Mr. and Mrs. Davin are at home at 1111 Central street, Auburn, Neb.

Mildred was widowed at the age of 38 with two young children to raise. Although she had been a stay-at-home Mother, she entered the work force to care and support herself and her children by working in food service at the nearby Troost Elementary School. She found the hours meshed very well with her need to be at home when her family required it. The Troost School was within walking distance of the home, an essential factor since she did not have an automobile nor drive. Even after her children were grown and on their own, she continued to be employed by Troot school, retiring in 1971 as Manager of the food service department there.

Published in the Kansas City Times, Thursday, Dec. 13, 1979.
Mrs. Mildred L. Davin, 72, of 1316 E. 60th, died Tuesday at Research Medical Center. She was a lifelong Kansas City resident. She was deaconess at the University Heights Christian Church and a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship there. Mrs. Davin was active in the Camp Fire Girls. She leaves a son Dan L. Davin, Kansas City; and a daughter Mrs. Brabara Meador, Versailes, Mo.; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Newcomer Brush Creek Chapel; burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church or charity.
