Lula Belle Townsend Blair, 64, wife of Ottis F. Blair, Sr., formerly of 1407 Luick Ave., more recently a resident of Fountainview Place, died Saturday afternoon in Ball Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis, came to Delaware County as a child with her parents, Melvin and Gertrude Barton Townsend, and attended Royerton and Muncie schools.
She was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company at the time of her retirement and previously was employed at Owens-Illinois, Ball Corporation and Thomas Auto Top Company. More recently she had cared for elderly people in her home.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Lesia Maria Ecoffe, St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Ottis F. Blair, Jr., Muncie; a granddaughter, Lesia Darlene Blair, Muncie; three sisters, Dorothy Maxwell and Hazel West, both of Muncie, and Pearly Rutherford, California; four brothers, Eugene and Dale Townsend, Muncie, Virgil Townsend, Texas, and David Townsend, Florida; several nieces and nephews, and an aunt.
