Helen L. Gonterman, 85, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Garfield, KY, she worked as a salesperson with Sears Roebuck for 28 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, and Daughter of Nile. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Rae) Gonterman of Roanoke; sisters, Katherine (Homer) Roller of Louisville, KY, Jane Anderson of Macon, GA, and Gladys Hardin of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Eugene (Paula) Conner of Sellersburg; brother, Wayne Conner of Irvington, KY; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Barb Gonterman of Fort Wayne. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Mary Conner; husband, Edward Gonterman; son, Gail L. Gonterman; and brother, Roger Conner. Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at Emmanuel Community Church 12222 West Jefferson Blvd with calling one hour prior, Pastor Robert Bruce officiating. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
