~OBITUARY~

John Tichenor died Thursday, April 4th at Akron General Hospital about 11 a.m. He died as a result of a stroke and double pneumonia.

He was born in Centertown, Kentucky and was a resident of the Akron area for 65 years. He retired as a driver for the Akron Transportation Company with over 40 years service. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Patricia Staudt of Stow; sisters Eloise Stenberg of Kentucky, Hazel Hopper of Akron, brother Forrest of Michigan; grandchildren and spouse Bernie and Patrick Tucci of Hudson, Mary and George Garbes, Patti and David Poston, Thomas and Erin Staudt, all of Houston, Texas, Kathy and Marc Cefaratti of Hudson. Funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Hennessey-Bagnoli Funeral home, 936 N. Main Street, Akron. Father Norm Douglas officiating. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, Hennessey-Bagnoli, Akron 376-4251.

During the last two years of his life, he lived at Kent Quality Nursing Home, 1290 Fairchild Avenue, Kent, Ohio 44240.

Son of Doward and Lora Belle (Everly) Tichenor, Ohio County, Kentucky.

Brother of Nola Gertrude (Tichenor) Bell, Osborn M. Tichenor, Ruth Marie (Tichenor) Render, Hazel Beatrice (Tichenor) Hopper, Forrest Clark Tichenor, Bertress Cebern Tichenor, Matthew Doward Tichenor and Alta Eloise (Tichenor) Stewart Stenberg

Husband of Bernice A. Fagan. They were married March 23, 1940 in Akron, Ohio.
"In 1935 I met my wife, Bernice, at a dance ("Swing and Sway with Sammy Kaye's Band") at Summit Beach Park. We went together five years and were married March 23, 1940" from Reminiscences.
