Born Feb. 7, 1919 in Dexter, she was the daughter of Charles and Madelsa Thompson Hankins. She received her early education in Dexter schools, and graduated from Dexter High School in 1937. She graduated from Cowley County Community College, and went on to receive her bachelors degree at Pittsburg State University. Later futhering her education at Southwestern College. She continued teaching for 35 years. She later married Ivan Brubaker on July 1968 in Miami, OK. They made their home in Winfield, Kansas. At her retirement in 1984, she was teaching at the Atlanta Attendance Center. She was a member of the Kansas and National Educators Associations. She attended the Evangelical Free Church in Winfield for a number of years.
