Barbara L. Black, 88, of Kirsch Dr., Mattydale, died Saturday at the home of her daughter with her family at her side. Barbara was a native of Philadelphia, PA, and resided in Mattydale since 1950. She was the daughter of the late John and Prudence McGonigle. She was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Barb also volunteered at the church rectory, the Salina Free Library and at the Syracuse Developmental Center with her sewing ability. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Edward, in 1988; a son, Edward F., and her sister, Betty Lou Murray, both in 2009. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen (Edward Smith) Raymo of Wildwood Florida, Ann (Albert) Pitts of North Syracuse and Susan (Dean) Wendt of Mattydale; a son, Neil (Rosario) Black of Brandon, Florida; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Young Sook) and Matthew Raymo, Kristina, David and Douglas Black, Edward and Katie Pitts, and Paul Wendt; two great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Elizabeth Raymo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A funeral service will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum Resurrection Chapel, Dewitt. Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
