Susan Hamilton, daughter of Robert Hamilton and Isabella {Thomson} Hamilton of Quebec City and Hawkesbury, Ottawa Valley, married Walter Gibson Pringle Cassels at St Mathew's Anglican Church, Quebec City, on September 24, 1873. Witnesses included Robert Hamilton and Robina Hamilton, siblings of the bride, and the groom's brother, Allan Cassels

In Toronto about 1891, where Walter was a barrister, they resided at 70 Grosvenor Street. He was a founding member, Vice-President, and President of The Toronto Granite Curling Club

About 1911, by then in Ottawa, the family resided in St George's Ward, at 21 Blackburn Avenue, not far from Strathcona Park and within brisk walking distance of the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill
