He was born June 5, 1950, in Kankakee, the son of Lois Benjamin.
Robert served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Aircrew Insignia, the Marine Corps Air Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Meritorious Unit Citation.
He Benjamin was retired from Valspar Corp. in Kankakee.
Robert was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno.
Surviving are two aunts, Arlene Bakeman, of Momence, and Charlene Benner, of Fowler, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. Thursday until the 7 p.m. memorial service at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. The Rev. Albert J. Heidecke will officiate.
