US MARINE CORPS WORLD WAR II

Marion Eugene Lang entered the Marine Corps 27 June, 1944 from Emerson, Iowa. Completed recruit training in the 6th Recruit Training Battalion, MCB San Diego, CA. 30 August, 1944 assigned to the 10th Training Battalion, 4th Infantry Training Regiment, MCB Camp Pendleton, CA.

Served overseas in the 7th Field Depot, 7th Service Regiment, and 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division during the Okinawa campaign and occupation of China.

Next of Kin: Parents, Mr Marion D and Mrs Evangaline Lang,

Discharged as a Corporal at Camp Lejuene 8 August, 1946.

Son of Marion & Evangeline Lang.

M. Eugene Lang, age 81, of Treynor, Iowa, passed away February 19, 2008, at Jennie Edmundson.


He was born, in Omaha, Neb., on May 6, 1926, and was a graduate of Iowa State University. Eugene served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War I, and returned home and

married Marilyn Jones on April 19, 1947. Eugene worked many years for the Omaha World Herald, in the Advertising Department, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Zion Congregational Church, in Treynor, American Legion Post# 725, and the over 60 Club of the World Herald Employees. Eugene was an avid golfer.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion D. and Evangeline Crawford Lang; his daughter, Diane Romine.


Survivors include wife, Marilyn, of Treynor; daughter, Cindy Lang, of Omaha; son, Greg Lang, of Georgetown, Texas; son-in-law, Tom Romine, of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Eric Romine, of San Francisco, Calif., Lauri Romine, of Denver, Darren Lang and Garrett Lang, both of Georgetown; sister, Annabelle Clarke, of Redding, Calif.; niece, Julie Ross, of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Jay Clarke, of Tigarg, Ore.


Visitation with the family, Thursday, 5-7 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services, Friday, 10:30 a.m., Zion Congregational Church, Treynor, with Pastor Alan

Hardy, officiant. Interment, Zion Cemetery with military rites tendered by the Treynor American Legion Post# 725.


Luncheon will be served by the Dorcas Aide, at Zion Church Hall. Memorials to Zion Congregational Church and Treynor Fire and Rescue.
