WIDEMAN — Michael Jasper Denny, 62, of Wideman died Monday, May 16, 2011, in Little Rock.

Born May 20, 1948, in Houston, he was the son of Robert Cecil Denny and Marjorie Otley (Bang) Denny.

He served in the U.S. Navy for three years. Later he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War in the 224 Maintenance Company, retiring after 26 total years of service.

He was united in marriage to Jaunita Gaile Wallaszek on Oct. 16, 1971, in Zion. He owned and operated Denny's Garage, specializing in engine and transmission repairs. He was of the Baptist faith and was a 35-year member of Oxford Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years; two daughters, Lucinda Gaile Humelhans of Cherokee Village and Mylessa Lyn Denny of New Mexico; a brother, Robert C. Denny of Wideman; three sisters, June Fletcher of Salem, Jean Tate of Jonesboro and Jeannette Hancock of Missouri; and three grandchildren, Skyler N. Conway, Jordan Lane and Brandon Lane.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oxford Baptist Church with Tom Doty officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
