She was the daughter of the late Cora Elizabeth (Smalley) and John Bill.

Joanne "Joby" "Job" "Ant" Stewart Bill, 76, of Monroeville passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at home.

Miss Bill was born at home in Monroeville on June 24, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Cora Elizabeth (Smalley) and John Bill. Joanne attended Monroeville Grammar School, and graduated from Woodstown High School in 1951. She graduated from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, and received a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1961 from the University of Pennsylvania. Early in her career, she worked several local nursing jobs. She retired as a public health epidemiologist with the state of New Jersey Department of Public Health after 27 years of service.

She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Monroeville, and a past member and president of the ladies auxiliary of Monroeville Fire Company. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading books and newspapers, doing crossword puzzles, baking and feeding anyone who walked through the door. After retiring from the state, she volunteered for Appel Farm and the Gloucester County Historical Society. Over the years, she enjoyed watching the activities of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was known as "Aunt Joanne" by several generations of local children.

She is survived by her brother, J. Franklin Bill of Mullica Hill; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Bill of Monroeville; nieces and nephews, Sallie Bill, Jane (David) Cooke, John Bill, Julie (Eric) Fidler, Joe (Kathy Galante) Bill, Sam (Deanne) Bill, Jennifer (Joe) McDonald, Russell (Cynthia) Bill, William (Dawn) Bill and Michael (Rachael) Bill. In addition, she also is survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Katie and Emily Cooke, Michael, Hunter and Ashley Fidler, Tyler, Collin and Sydney Bill, Karalyn Galante, Kaitlyn and Victoria Bill, Kevin Daniel and Patrick McDonald, Zachary and Aaron Baer, Michael and William Bill, and Caleb, Elijah and Isaac Bill; as well as many cousins and second cousins.

She was predeceased by her brothers, George Smalley Bill in 1984 and William Howard Bill in 2003; as well as sisters-in-law, Bette Bill and Vern Bill.

Memorial services will be held Monday at Friendship United Methodist Church, 149 Friendship Road, Monroeville. The family will be available starting at 10 a.m. to receive anyone who wishes to stop by and pay their respects, with the service following at 11 a.m. Intermentwill take placeat Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Elmer.
