DAVENPORT - Funeral services for David L. McConnell, 69, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion 26.
Dave died on Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center East Campus, Davenport.
David Lee McConnell was born on September 1, 1937, in Davenport, the son of Elwin and Frances (Boland) McConnell. He married Joyce Anne Wayson on June 8, 1957, in Davenport; she preceded him in death on March 12, 2004.
He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in 1955. He was an avid gardener and cook. He was a member of the Retirees 25 year club at Alcoa, and worked as an electrician at Alcoa for 43 years, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 1379. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1959.
Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl (Michael) McGuire, Kathleen (Nick) Neilssen, Barbara (Gary) Weidell, and Lisa (Fred) Lawson, all of Davenport, nine grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, a brother, Russell McConnell, Davenport, his dogs, Guido and Tyson and cat D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William in 1999.
Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
