David P Brennan Sr, 65, Topeka, died Wednesday, April 16, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr Brennan was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and was associated with Brennan Funeral Home in Topeka from 1945 until he retired in 1966.

He later worked for the Kansas Department of Revenue until he again retired in 1985. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served with the 503rd ORDNANCE TANK CO., in Europe from 1943 until 1945. He enlisted in 1942.

He was born Aug 11, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Matthew A and Mary Ellen Flynn Brennan. He was graduated from Capital Catholic High School, now Hayden High School, attended Creighton University at Omaha, Neb., and was graduated from Williams Institute of Mortuary Science at Kansas City, Ks, in 1940. He received licenses as a funeral director and embalmer from the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts.

Mr Brennan was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church, a lector and usher at the church. He also was a life member of Knights of Columbus Council No 534, a 40 year member of James W Gibbons Fourth Degree Assemby, a 30-year member of Nocturnal Adoration Society, and a member of 503rd Ordnance Tank Company Association. He was designated Knight of the Year in 1971 by Knights of Columbus Council No 534.

He was married to Mary E Hefner May 4, 1946, in Topeka. She survivies.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary was recited by the Nocturnal Adoration Society and the parish at 7pm on Friday April 18 and Knights of Columbus Council No 534 and Fourth Degree at 8pm.
