JoEtta “Jody” Dettwiler, age 48 of Winfield, died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the University Hospital in Iowa City. The daughter of Jack and Mildred (Owens) Gipple,
she was born December 21, 1958 at Muscatine.
In December of 1982 she married Harold Dettwiler. She was a graduate of the Winfield-Mt. Union High School and attended
Southeastern Community College. She was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church and was a former 4-H member. She worked at NASA when living in Houston, Texas, was employed at Hagerla’s Market in Winfield and most recently was clubhouse manager at Twin Lakes in Winfield.
She is survived by one son, Cody Dettwiler and one daughter, Hannah Dettwiler, both of Winfield; one brother, Sam Gipple of
Marengo; two sisters, Mary Jensen of Ashland, Nebraska and Helen Gipple of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, and one brother.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday January 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Winfield United Methodist Church, with Re
v. Nancy Bender officiating; interment will follow at the Columbus City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for an education fund for her
children
