Edward married Adelia McMAHON in March 1855. Adelia was the daughter of Julia SMITH McMahon and John McMahon.
About 1868, Edward and Adelia and their four children moved to Jersey City, New Jersey, where Edward and Adelia spent the rest of their lives. Edward worked as a carpenter his entire life.
Edward and Adelia's children were Samuel E. Brown, John Epworth Brown, Adelia E. BROWN Lynn, Abel Pearson Brown, Eva E. Brown, and William H. Brown. Three other children, all unknown, were born and died between 1860 and 1870.
At least one child, several grandchildren, and one great-grandchild had the middle name Epworth, the significance of which is not known.
Several of Edward and Adelia's children lived with them for a year or two after getting married, and they reared two grandchildren: Sandford E. Brown, son of John Epworth Brown, who lived with his grandparents from 1884 to 1886; and Edward Epworth Lynn, son of Adelia BROWN Lynn, who lived with them from 1891 to at least 1910.
The lot in which Edward and Adelia are buried was purchased in 1887 by their son John Epworth Brown and his second wife, Josephine M. SOUTHARD Brindley.
