William J. P. Baldwin was born in NYC, the youngest child of George Richard Baldwin and Elizabeth Susan Mason. When he was 11 his father, a N.Y. contractor, died. Shortly after, he moved with his mother and and sisters to Arlington, NJ. where resided for 50 years, before becoming a 20-year resident of the Oranges. He was a long-time accountant at John P. Callagham, Inc. of Harrison. During the Spanish-American War, he served in Co. G, First Infantry Regiment, NJ National Guard. He married Beatrice Adams on 19 March 1898 in Manhattan, and they had five children, three surviving to adulthood. While visiting his children the week before Christmas, he suffered a fractured hip after falling on icy stairs, and later died in East Orange General Hospital. He was 75. Surviving are his his daughter Beatrice Florence of East Orange; sons George Richard of Irving, and Howard Adams Baldwin of Stillwater; and grandchildren.
