O. L. "Slim" Gillaspie, Son of the late Bonnie Lillard and Sue Ella Bladree Gillaspie, was born July 30, 1927 in Palacios, Texas. He died September 20, 1999 in Mountain Home. He was 72. Mr Gillaspie was united in marriage to Beatrice Ondricek June 23, 1952 in Baylor County, Texas. To this union one daughter and one son were born. During his working years, he did many things such as working in the oilfields, operated a tug boat for many years, worked as a well driller and was also a farmer. He was a member of the Violet Hill Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Gillaspie of the home, one daughter, Jeanette Sies of Dickenson, Texas; one son, Rick Gillaspie of Violet Hill; one sister, Dorothy Ramsey of Palacios, Texas; one brother, Curtis Lillard Gillaspie of Edna, Texas; six grandchildren, Miranda, B.J. and Jimmie Lee Gillaspie; Christy, Clift and Clyde Siems. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 23, 1999 at 2:pm. At the Roman and Billy Memorial Chapel with Reverend Leon Morehead officiating. Pallbearers were Kenneth Wiles, Kenneth Sheffield, Donald Cross, Ommel Cross, Jr., Dean Phipps and Brad Felton. Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Johnson, Lloyd Garner and Joe Guiltner. Interment was at Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Larkin under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
