Mt. Carroll, Ill., Sept. 2.— Services for LaVonne Acker, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Acker, Mt. Carroll, who was killed Friday afternoon in an automobile accident
near Sterling, were held Monday afternoon in the Lutheran church here. Rev. Frank Countryman, Methodist pastor, officiated and interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.

The tragedy occurred when the automobile Miss Acker was driving and a heavy steel flatbed truck driven by R. E. Tinman, 39, of Coleta, collided on the sweeping curve at Pfundstein's corner, eight miles north of Sterling. Miss Acker, who was employed at the C.I.O. office in Sterling, was enroute to her home here, accompanied by Leona Jellericks, 18, of Round Grove, and Evelyn Lego, 12, of Mt. Carroll, who had spent the day in Sterling. Miss Jellericks suffered lacerations on the forehead and shock. She was scheduled to be released today from Sterling public hospital. Miss Lego was treated for a hand injury and taken to her home. At an inquest Saturday in Sterling a coroner's jury found that Miss Acker's death was accidental; that she incurred a skull fracture and broken neck.

Miss Acker was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Polo, the daughter of Robert and Inez Acker. Later the family moved to Milledgeville, and several years ago came to Mt. Carroll where Mr. Acker established an automobile dealership. Survivors besides the parents are a sister, Mrs. Lee Pierson, and the paternal grandfather, William Acker, both of Mt. Carroll. -- Tues., Sept. 2, 1947, Freeport Journal-Standard, Pg. 16
