I took the group picture that I have posted on November 11, 1993, at the Ottumwa VFW Hall.

There was also a picture of the men, with an article on the front page of The Ottumwa Courier on November 12. These five veterans of World War I were honored during a Veterans Day program, and they were presented with medals commemorating the 75h anniversary of the Great War. Please note that John Mosley's name was incorrectly typed as John Bosley in that article.

World War I Veterans, wearing their medals and standing from left to right are: Lloyd Schaub, John Mosley, Leo Billings and Gay Anderson. Veteran John Gay is seated. Two other Ottumwa World War I Veterans Frank Glover and Leslie Pomroy were unable to attend.

In the second picture, Melvin Stonebraker VFW Quartermaster is pinning John's commemorative metal on him, while Veteran Gay Anderson looks on. This was a very special day for these five men and their families, as they were honored for their service. The men also enjoyed reminiscing about their experiences and sharing their pictures with everyone.
