Death of Mrs. A. H. Douds
Mrs Amelia H. Douds aged 79 years, died Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at her home in Rush Township, following an illness of only four days. Mr. Douds passed away Easter morning after a few hours illness and the day following the funeral, Mrs. douds was taken ill with tonsilitis, which later developed into heart and kidney trouble.
Amelia Housel was born near Canton, Ohio in 1836 and was married to Andrew Douds when they came to Rush in 1879. They have resided there since. They were both members of the First methodist Episcopal church of this city. Their only child is Mrs L.C. Bailey, who with her husband came here last October from Denver, Colorado, to tkae care of her parents and who have been erecting a fine new home in order to be near her parents.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home, Re. Hartley Cansfield officiating. Mrs. Douds was a woman of beautiful Chirstian character and her daily life was consistent and full of kindly deeds. She was held in the highest esteem in the community where she had lived for years, and will be greatly missed by those who were privileged to be among her friends.


NOTE: The above obituary is not correct with respect to her children. The 1860 and 1870 census data shows three children, Alvin, Minnie and Estella.
