She was born as Geessien van der Woude (= of the Forest) at the country village Thesinge, municipality Ten Boer, in the mid-northern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen. Her parents are Jannes (later on in the USA: John and James) van der Woude, 32 years aged, and Pieterke (later on in the USA: Priscilla) Vredevoogd, 25 y, both day-laborers and born in Thesinge (too).

She emigrated in 1909 to the USA.

On 1 November 1911 Grace Van Dewaude (!) married at Manhattan, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana, just northwest of Yellowstone National Park, at the age of 24 years to the four years older Bert C. Kamerman.

In 1930 Geziena lived with her husband Bert Kamerman and their seven children at Manhattan. In 1940 they resided at a rented home at the same place with eight children. Her husband B.H. Kamerman is then a farmer. Bert died on 23 January 1943.
